Vintage Tudor Prince ‘Oysterdate’ mechanical self-winding wristwatch reference 7914, with original and very rare BLACK “guilloche” dial
Unusually for a vintage Tudor Oysterdate, the reference 7914 features a particularly thick case and a 20mm lug spacing (most vintage Tudors have 18mm or 19mm lug spacing). This, combined with the long lugs and overall case length, make the watch wear significantly larger than its 34mm case width would suggest; more like that of a 36mm Rolex Datejust.
The beautiful original guilloche patterned dial is quite simply the best dial that I have seen on one of these ref. 7914 Tudors. The watch retains its original gilt coloured dauphine shape hour and minute hands, and original centre seconds hand.
The watch also retains its original “roulette” date disk with alternating red and black date lettering (even number dates are in red, odd number dates are in black) which is in incredibly clean condition, and its original “+” marked Rolex winding crown. Both of these are valuable parts in their own right.
The case is exceptionally crisp and in my opinion remains unpolished. The vertical striations between the lugs can still be seen, with only minor bracelet marking present.
